Replacing your roof is a major investment that can have a significant impact on your home’s appearance and performance. If you are ready to replace your roof but live in a development that is overseen by a homeowners association, a roof replacement may require prior written approval. While an HOA will not usually prevent you from getting a new roof for your home, they may have certain rules in place pertaining to the style and materials you can use. All HOAs have governing documents, known as covenants, conditions and restrictions (CC&R’s). Review these documents carefully as they should specifically outline what you can do and what you cannot do to your home.
